Solar has the biggest share in the Ukrainian renewable energy mix. By the end of 2016, the country is aiming to have more than 570 MW of PV plants installed. Since 2015, the leaders of the Ukrainian solar industry have managed to enhance their positions. For instance, Ukrainian solar developer Rentechno is about to launch a number of solar plants totaling 6 MW. The company is also planing to finish two larger objects, 3.5 MW each, by the end of the year.

Renteсhno and other solar companies produced and sent letter amending the Law of Ukraine "On Electric Power Industry" on the promotion of electricity production from renewable energy sources to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex and Nuclear Safety, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, Chairman of NERC.
